I am a S T A A R rider - are you? WELCOME TO STAAR - SEAT TRAINING ACADEMIC ART of RIDING
SIX MONTHS CHALLENGE - T U R N T H E C O R N E R
Become one of the Premium participens! We start 4 April!
The 6-week Challenge, “FEEL MY HORSE THROUGH MY SEAT”, has been a success and a game changer for many riders. That specific Challenge has been running for the past two years, and it is time for the next step. Are you ready for a new challenge?
The first Challenge was about how you, as a rider, could become more aware of yourself. Finding your seat and position in balance was challenging; how and what you could feel through your seat.
You can accelerate your skills in this next part of the STAAR App content. The focus is on how you can understand the techniques beyond the feelings. This will have a massive impact on your development as a rider. You will become more confident in your seat and deepen your communication skills with your horse, and it will also help you to become more mindful in your training.
I would like to call it in my “Hanna language”; “seat wise”, “horse wise” and “mind wise”
This STAAR 2 Challenge T U R N T H E C O R N E R will improve your daily work.
We all struggle with days of confusion and self-doubts. We all ask ourselves if we can become good riders for our horses. Questions like "What type of training should I do? What specific training method should I use and learn more about?" "What will happen if I mess this horse up?" "How do I avoid making huge mistakes in my training?" "My horse is happier hacking out than working in the arena - how can I change that?"
The pressure we put on ourselves is often remarkably high, and this keeps us from enjoying every moment and being mindful when we spend time together with our horses. We can recognise a slight tension in our body when taking a lesson for a trainer or if we are together with other horse people. We, like our horses, also have a "body language" that speaks the truth about our condition for the moment. We are often afraid of admitting that the way we train isn't giving us the results we are longing for. We are trapped in a downward spiral of hidden stress and unsatisfied with ourselves and our horses.
If you recognise yourself in any of the above statements - this challenge might be something for you!
If it isn't the case, but you still would like to belong to a positive, supportive and inspiring group of like-minded riders - this challenge is something for you.
If you are currently working towards self-carrying and a higher level for you and your horse, this challenge will make you achieve your goals.
T U R N T H E C O R N E R -is for you as a Horse trainer and rider.
This challenge is how you can transform from a "natural rider" towards a more "schooled rider" and improve your skills as a horse trainer.
What you need to take part in this course:
You will need a 16 x 32 m arena or an area for your work
You will need a "Steady Freddy" for training out of the saddle.
You can use any horse (minimum five years of age). The level of education needs to be revised.
The content of this challenge is a mixture of ridden work, groundwork and "human body work".
Having equipment for filming yourself and your work with Bluetooth headphones would be best.

Challenge 2:

What to expect after the T U R N T H E C O R N E R Challenge
After finishing this STAAR Challenge 2, you will have enough experience to continue working and excelling in your work.
During the 25 years, I have studied AAoR education and both riders and horses. I have realised that learning is a journey, like an upgoing spiral. We repeat the basics repeatedly, and there is a new point of view and unique experiences for every turn. For every turn we make - we learn more and more.
The first horse is the hardest to educate, but you will realise that life only gives us a new challenge with every horse, and this enables us to grow.
Your body is constantly changing, and the seat and body must adapt to a new horse or a new life situation. The awareness of "here and now" is always crucial to remember.
Sometimes you feel like you are standing in the same spot for decades and can't see any progress. You start to doubt yourself, and eventually, you become unmotivated. It happens to us all! We must remember why we love being together with our horses; this motivates us to continue - back to basics. This Challenge will give you a structure to work from and make it easier to return to basics and move forward. Over and over again.
